Planning School Visits

What are the options for bringing my class to Aratoi for a visit?

You can bring your class for either an education activity, a guided or self-guided visit. We offer a range of education programmes that can be adapted to suit your needs.

How much does it cost?

There is no cost for guided tours of exhibitions and self-guided visits are free of charge, although some temporary and touring exhibitions may have an entry charge.

Do I have to book?

Yes, all education activities, guided and self-guided groups must be pre-booked. We recommend booking as far in advance as possible.

What about transport to and from Aratoi?

Aratoi and Tranzit Coachlines Wairarapa are working together to make travel to and from Aratoi easy and affordable for those schools in the Wairarapa region. You will need to contact our education team to see what we can do for you.

How long do programmes last?

All programmes last 1.5 – 2 hours, but may be adapted to fit your needs. Please let us know if you have time constraints.

Group sizes

The minimum group size for education programmes is 7 students. Please contact us to discuss options for smaller groups. The minimum number of adults required to accompany pre-booked school groups is:

  • for secondary students - one adult to every ten students
