Dr Rebecca Rice, Curator Historical New Zealand Art at Te Papa will give a curator's talk on Petrus van der Velden: Art of two halves which opens on the 25th November 2016.

The exhibition showcases works from the artists’ Dutch and New Zealand years, exploring his different approach to subject and theme. In the Netherlands, Van der Velden’s sketches and paintings focused on studies of everyday people, but in New Zealand he turned to this country’s majestic scenery for inspiration.
