Greytown artist Victoria Cassells has gained a following over the past several years for her whimsical and nostalgic oil paintings of domestic scenes. The exhibition is inspired by the tradition of hanging family portraits in the hallway, and shows a new note of edginess, with the ‘paranoid sister’, and ‘insomniac aunt’ among the roll call. “What really interests me is portraying an emotion, a particular state of mind. There are some strange things going on, and the characters are not all they would first appear to be,” says Victoria.
