Fixed term Museum Educator

Aratoi is looking to hire a passionate and reliable museum educator who will bring diversity and a variety of experience to the role.

We aim to deliver high quality and dynamic programmes of learning and participation with our museum collection and exhibitions acting as a learning resource.

Successful applicants need to be able to deliver and evaluate a varied and informative programme of education particularly for children. You can expect to be working both within the museum and also in a community context.


Develop an already established education programme, across all sectors.  

Teach museum education in line with the school curriculum.

Represent and promote the museum in order to establish a network of useful and productive partnerships.

Salary & hours of work

Salary to be discussed and dependent on experience and qualification.

Hours are 9am-3pm, for a minimum of one day per week, up to three days.  Potential for this to increase.    

Fixed term for terms 2 and 3, 2018.

Skills and experience

Basic knowledge of tikanga and te reo Māori, and the NZ curriculums would be an advantage.

Ability to work across all sectors (early childhood/ primary/ intermediate/ secondary/ tertiary) would be essential.
