April School Holidays (13th April - 28th April 2024)

INTRODUCING Aratoi's Mystery Box Challenge!

Aratoi Museum of Art and History is excited to announce its first mystery box challenge titled

"A picture is worth a thousand words".

Aratoi invites tamariki and their kaitiaki to visit during the April school holidays to view five large mystery box examples on display in the foyer and to collect their mystery box entry pack.

Aratoi's in-house educator, Natasha Priddle, explains some of the critical thinking benefits of a Mystery Box Challenge. "It's a magical process that unfolds; from the selection of potential materials, creative play, problem-solving, engineering/construction, and my favourite part - the evolving narrative. Mystery Box Challenges introduce design and production skills related to art installation and set design (i.e. film/theatre)".

Mystery Box participants are invited to photograph their finished artwork/entry form and email it to [email protected]. A selection of entries will be celebrated on Aratoi Education's website page throughout term two 2024.

Aratoi staff look forward to your visit!
