Join us for a Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) demonstration and workshop for teachers and school leaders. Hosted by Laura Jones, Te Papa Education Specialist and experienced VTS facilitator. In partnership with Aratoi and REAP Wairarapa.

This free workshop is suitable for teachers of all levels and curriculum areas, due to the highly adaptable method of VTS.

Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) are a student-centred discussion method, grounded in decades of research and testing. Through facilitated conversation, participants are guided through a process of curious exploration, critical reflection and collective meaning making. Regular VTS sessions improve student observation skills, evidence based reasoning and critical thinking which in time transfer to other classroom interactions and subject areas.

Workshop participants will:

· Participate in a VTS image discussion and see first-hand how VTS is used to open up rich conversations with students

· Understand how VTS can broadly support teaching and learning across curriculum areas and specifically the Aotearoa New Zealand Histories curriculum

· Learn the elements of VTS method and leave this programme ready to facilitate VTS sessions with students in their next class – all resources will be provided

Registration: Please register for this workshop by emailing [email protected] or for more information.
