gnossienne is a collaborative project celebrating the 50th anniversary of Wai-te-ata Press, Victoria University and the 10th anniversary of the Randell Cottage Writers’ Trust residency. The exhibition consists of a set of poems by Pat White, Randell Cottage New Zealand writer-in-residence 2010, and a series of rubbings by artist Catherine Day, taken from the floor boards of the historic Randell Cottage. The accompanying book, published by Wai-te-ata Press, contains the set of poems with a selection of the images. The poems have been translated into French by Nadine Ribault, the first French writer-in-residence, 2002, and Jean Anderson, Associate Professor of French, Victoria University. A limited edition set of poem/prints has been designed and hand printed by Catherine Day and Sydney Shep, The Printer, Wai-te-ata Press during a three week artist’s residency at the Press during May 2012. The project will be launched at Wai-te-ata Press in early October 2012.
Opening Saturday 27th October at 2pm.
