Mythmakers

Catherine's works use appropriated images from historical paintings; media images and her own drawings and photographs.
A  photograph of herself, her sister and mother from the 1950s is blended with a drawing she made 25 years ago of a 14th century church  Santa Maria in Rome. These odd juxtapositions have the “logic”  of dreams.

"I often record my dreams and use imagery  I remember from them in my paintings" she says. "This hybrid mix is the way I make symbols and meaning of my own life, my  memories and the passage of time. I make sense of the world by creating my own personal  myths"
