With Koha – Presenting Plenitude, Auckland-based installation artist Julie Teale presents the viewer with gifts. A year’s worth of found or donated objects, within an ‘architecture’ of painted builder’s scrap, are assembled to create an exhibition that asks us to appreciate the value in everything that surrounds us, even the most insignificant item, event, or experience.
To take this even further, visitors are invited to participate in this presentation of plenitude by adding small gifts of found objects. Tasked with finding the perfect space to place their koha, visitors are joining Teale in acknowledging beauty to be found in the relationships and reciprocities that connect us, objects, and the world.
