Caroline Williams

Caroline Williams was born in Wellington, the daughter of Morvyn (Tim) and Philippa Williams, and a direct descendant of the artist William Beetham, and the prominent Beetham and Williams families of the Wairarapa.
Morvyn Williams was the first patron of the Wairarapa Arts Foundation, and five works in the collection were purchased with funds from his estate.

Caroline’s work has wit and humour, she wants to tease the viewer. There is a sense of tension and mystery here. What is actually happening in this picture? The title is Texan Standoff so is this related to a Mexican standoff?  Who are these characters?  Where are they? What are they arguing about? How will this standoff be resolved?

A Mexican Standoff is a classic movie cliché, try Sergio Leone's 1966 Western ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’ where the main characters face each other at gunpoint. What's you favourite movie that includes a Mexican Standoff?
