Wairarapa artist Rebekah Farr explores exile and migration in Departures, her current exhibition of oil and wax paintings at Aratoi. She has exhibited for the past decade, was a Finalist for the Molly Morpeth Canaday Award and the Walker & Hall Waiheke Art Award, and won the Highly Commended Award at the Wairarapa Art Review. Farr has a Degree in Fashion Design and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Animation and Interactive Media.
Author Adrienne Jansen, from Porirua, has been writing alongside migrants to New Zealand to tell their stories – in fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. Her most recent book is All of Us (Landing Press, 2018), a collection of poems, with Carina Gallegos, about immigrants and refugees. Among her other publications is the collaboration with Ans Westra, The Crescent Moon: The Asian Face of Islam in New Zealand. Her publications will be for sale at the event.
