Since 2004, glass artists Jim Dennison and Leanne Williams have been
making collaborative works under the banner of the ‘Crystal Chain Gang’. Fancy
Fools Flight is their first solo exhibition to be shown in public
galleries in New Zealand.
Over the last seven years the pair have
challenged perceptions of cast glass practice, to create innovative work
that traverses the territories of art, craft, design and industry.
The artists describe their work ... " the message is not in the bottle but it is the bottle itself. Our intention is to stir memory and re-contextualise the bottle to try and engage the viewer in new and unexpected ways."
Curated and toured nationally by the Sarjeant Gallery, Wanganui. The exhibition is accompanied by a publication supported by Creative New Zealand who also provided the Crystal Chain Gang with a grant to help produce this new body of work.
