For You and Yours - Recent Acquisitions

In over 50 years of its existence, Aratoi has cared for Wairarapa’s most significant collection of art, social history and Taonga Māori. This exhibition celebrates new acquisitions to the permanent collection from the past two years, all of which have been generously donated by artists and collectors.

Aratoi’s collection has grown to more than 3500 items today. We have a policy to collect items of natural, cultural, social and artistic history of the Wairarapa region, and contemporary New Zealand art with particular focus on local relevance.

Our museum relies heavily on donations to enhance and build on its permanent collection. All items represent a vital part of our heritage and are held in trust for the benefit of local iwi, the people of the Wairarapa, New Zealand and the world.

A sincere thanks to all our donors for generously supporting our museum.
