Artist Angela Singer responds to Aratoi's collection of animal-related natural history objects, engaging with and disrupting the ways nature is presented in a museum environment, and exploring and challenging the narratives museums create.
Through sculpture and installation, and using vintage animal materials such as taxidermy that she has collected for her artwork, she encourages us to see the animal in a new unfamiliar way, raising questions about our past, current and future relationship to animals and the natural world.
Based in the Wairarapa, Angela Singer's work has been shown nationally and internationally, including at Te Papa, The Dowse, List Art Center Brown University USA, Universcience Paris, and Kensington Palace UK.
