On Friday, 11 October, we had the pleasure of hosting Hon Paul Goldsmith, the Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage and Mike Butterick, MP for Wairarapa, at Aratoi.
Aratoi Director Sarah McClintock and Chair of the Aratoi Board Wayne Skipage showed them around the new exhibitions- Robyn Kahukiwa: Tohunga Mahi Toi and the complimentary collection display Maumahara Raranga: Woven Memories, plus the eclectic Breadcraft Wairarapa School's Art exhibition.
They had plenty to discuss; the importance of art and the role of galleries, funding and changes to the new arts curriculum.
It was great to be able to host them both and showcase what Masterton has to offer.
