People's Choice Winner!

Congratulations to Christopher Davidson who scooped the Wairarapa Art Review's final award- the Frank Minehan People's Choice Award on Sunday, 15 February.

Over 500 votes were cast over the course of the exhibition, with Chris having over 10% of the votes.

"I wanted to create and engaging and attractive piece of art, that not only highlights one of my favourite parts of our region but also starts a conversation and conveys a wider message,"says Christopher.

"Sentry speaks to the metaphor of the lighthouse and Climate change, shining a light on the tension between the traditional stability, strength, longevity and guidance that lighthouses represent and their vulnerability in the face of rising sea levels, coastal storms, erosion and climate change…. The colours were inspired by the light at sunrise and sunset, and create a shift in the painting to a desert landscape when viewed in a yellow/warm light."
