John Drawbridge

At first glance, this print seems flat, a thick green wavy line stuck between two solid black edges. But look closer and you will the green is not solid colour, but covered in multi directional lines. It reminds you of a ploughed field taken from an aeroplane, with rain clouds moving in from the side, wave patterns on a beach or seismic lines. Drawbridge was clearly fascinated by planetary forces and geology and scientific exploration.

Green Phase is an exploration in printmaking, the way the colour, line and form interplay together to create something contemporary and different.
